Deadlines looming?
Here’s a dose of zen.

Oh, hi! How you doing? Didn’t see you coming.

My name is Juan Carlos or JC as they call me in the office. I’m the Senior Art Director here at CultureSpan, and I want to talk to you a little about deadlines.

Whenever we approach a project, we usually like to take as much time as possible as it helps the creative juices flow a little bit more. We also understand that sometimes that doesn’t happen since deadlines tend to be tight. It’s nobody’s fault, it’s just how things are.

"The nature of the rush tends to be nerve racking, but try to be as cool and as calm as you can. That not only helps you, but it helps the whole team to create a good atmosphere." – Juan Carlos HernándezSo, I just want to talk to you about the approach to handling all kinds of projects. The main thing I would suggest is that you truly take advantage of your team's efforts.

Whether it’s the copywriters who are cranking out copy, the photographers or videographers, or everybody who is going to be helping us as a third or fourth designer, we all really like to work together towards one end.

Once everything has a flow and starts checking out, it is very important to double and triple check. Have somebody else check it, you know? We have a really good team here that helps us look at our work from a different angle.

Label your documents right so there’s no confusion as to what you’re sending out, and have people just look at everything. It’s incredible how sometimes people will notice something that you didn’t even know was there. Just rely a lot on your team.

And finally, just keep cool and calm. It is very important. I know that sometimes the nature of the rush tends to be very nerve-racking, but try to stay as cool and calm as you can. Not only does that help you, it helps the whole team, so try to create a good atmosphere.

Timing is important for a client, but just make sure you handle it well by keeping cool. That’s my advice. Make everything good for the agency, good for the client, and good for everybody.

Sorry, I got to take this call. See ya!
