El Paso International Airport

The Project

El Paso International Airport (EPIA) is more than a gateway to all that the Sun City has to offer - it’s also an economic driver for our community. When we were selected to create an imaging spot that would air nationally during the 2016 Hyundai Sun Bowl, we were thrilled to capture the energy and essence of the city we call home. Our goal was to deliver an eye-catching and eye-opening visual panorama of EPIA and El Paso itself.

The Approach

After initial meetings with the EPIA team as well as the movers and shakers of El Paso, we quickly realized how important our airport is to the city. Its property covers over 7,000 acres and includes a thriving international commercial hub, resort and dining properties and even a multi-award winning Tom Fazio designed golf course plus much more.

El Paso International Airport Imaging Spot – Warm Welcomes

In order to develop our creative messaging, we put ourselves in the shoes of a visitor to El Paso. We thought about what kind of experience they would want, and what hidden gems our city had to offer. We decided it all starts when you land and you’re greeted by the friendly faces at EPIA. This led to the development of our creative theme of “Warm Welcomes”.

The direction allowed us to create a spot that was equal parts imaging for EPIA and tourism marketing for the city itself. This was no easy task considering multiple interests had a stake in this project - including the city’s Convention and Visitors Bureau and Economic and International Development department along with the airport itself. However, we always love a challenge so we hit the runway to create a spot that would really soar.

El Paso International Airport Imaging Spot – Location Scouting

Eight straight shoot days, a monster cast of extras, one drone crash and long hours in the editing room resulted in a final product that made everyone proud.
